Well, my agent/publicist has put me up to this & I have no other choice but to bow to his expert knowledge! A good number of those who write fiction will gladly inform you that putting words together to tell a story is a joyous, fun-filled preoccupation but it is perhaps the most taxing of human endeavours. Creating an alternate world or strings of events that never happened in real life in one's mind - in effect lying - is a tough thing to do. How do you stretch a lie to last 300 pages or 200,000 words? Not many can! Even after a few lines in everyday life, most of us eventually fess up or move on from the lie. Unfortunately, a determined writer can't help being trapped in the story because he or she knows there will be no internal peace until that story is documented for the world to see what quirks lurk behind that nerdy face!
I believe I may have earned the right to be condescending about it because I have actually had my first novel completed & published - even if some reading this now have never heard my name before!
I shall endeavour to share the few insights I dig up in my journey to perfection, about my perceptions of the world and its people. I shall, from time to time, share advance copies of my work before anyone else gets it, sort of like "Bolaji Olatunde's breaking news"!
